CEDAW is the only human rights treaty that deals specifically with rural women, highlighting the need for their participation and access to basic social services - and is therefore a powerful tool to advocate for rural women.
ILC has produced this infonote on the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) to inform NGOs which options exist for them to engage in the CEDAW process. There is also a separate document with Questions and Answers on specific aspects of participating in the review process, including practical information on accreditation.

WIDE (Women In Development Europe - a European feminist network of women’s organisations, development NGOs, gender specialists and women’s rights activists) has published a Special Issue of its Newsletter dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Convention of Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women.

A recent collaboration between ILC and RIMISP has resulted in a second edition of the InterCambios newsletter on women and land, more specifically, on the importance of access to land for women’s emancipation. The bullettin, available in Spanish, features 4 studies supported by ILC and carried out by members and partners in Latin America (including CINEP/Colombia, CISEPA-PUC/Peru, CEMCA/Mexico and Procasur/regional), as well as other important publications on the topic.
