ILC Conference 2009: Securing Rights to Land for Peace and Food Security

• The final day of the conference, prior to the business meeting on the 4th day, combined practical observatory visits with a roundtable to conclude the deliberations. A cultural event completed the day's activities.
  
  Delegates had the opportunity to visit four communities affected by land issues: te Kharpa Community Forest Users Group, Talku-7, near Kathmandu, the Bandevi Shanti Community Forestry Users Group at Badikhel 5, Lalitpur, the Chemeliya Community Forestry Users Group at Dadhikot, Bhaktapur and the Bahukhure Community Forestry Users Group, in Dhulikhel Municipality.

• The final roundtable session brought together the Minister of Finance, Hon Baburam Bhattrai, the Minister of Land Reform and Management, Hon Mahendra Paswan, Dr Keshav Kanel, Secretary of Land Reform and Management and Hon Haribol Prasad Gajurel, Chairman of the High Level Land Reform Commission, Dr Madiodio Niasse, Director, ILC and Asian, African and Latin American representatives of the ILC.
