Approaching the GLF 2018, Government of Indonesia convenes a high level meeting at the Presidential Palace

More bricks are being paved to complete the journey toward the Global Land Forum 2018. Hosted by the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), relevant ministry institutions were attending a high-level meeting to weave an engagement toward the preparation of the GLF, taking place at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Indonesia.
Governments working with private and public stakeholders to improve land governance in Africa

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 13 November 2017- Multi-stakeholders platforms (MSP) bringing together civil society organisations (CSOs), private sector, governments, and UN agencies are essential in securing land rights and achieving development in Africa. The collaborative nature of these platforms has great potential for synergising ideas and finding common ground on land issues. MSP appears to be a recommendation of regional, continental and international normative frameworks on land tenure, including the Frameworks and Guidelines on Land Governance in Africa (F&Gs), the Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure (VGGT) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
A Visit on Communal Land Tittle (CLT) and Forest Management in Cambodia

The group of NGOs and government officials from Cambodia, led by the NGO Forum on Cambodia (NGOF) in collaboration with Asia Indigenous Peoples Pacts (AIPP) conducted a three-day exposure visit from 12th to 14th September 2017 in community, indigenous peoples’ organization and University of Chiang Mai.
In India, land reform is currently a forgotten agenda. Immediately after India’s independence, the Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru promised to eliminate the intermediaries and restore land to the tiller resulting in the passing of historic Zamindari Abolition Act in 1956. Yet unfortunately, land has never became the core agenda of the successive governments despite various revolutionary steps through social movements.
Semiáridos Platform launches in the Lara region of Venezuela

The Semiáridos Platform was launched in the Lara region of Venezuela within the framework of a conference on desertification organized by the Venezuelan Observatory of Land. It is a space for articulation of international institutions and public, private and academic organizations, in order to face the challenges presented by the Lara semi-arid region.
