FAO e-learning centre: Sustainable Development Goal indicators
The Food and Agricultural Organization develops e- learning courses for professionals working in food and nutrition security, social and economic development and sustainable management of natural resources.
FAO provides learners with free access to content that can interest them and support them in their job. The courses cover a wealth of topics of global interest. They offer content for self-pace learning as well as materials for trainers and references to existing bibliography and online resources.
The Organization is the custodian agency for 21 SDG indicators, and partner agency in four other indicators, all related to FAO’s vision for food security, nutrition, sustainable agriculture and the sustainable management of natural resources.
The e-learning products will strengthen national capacities in collecting, analyzing, monitoring and reporting of these indicators.
The first eight courses are already available online, free of charge, as a global public good, through the FAO e-learning centre and include:
- Introduction to Sustainable Development Goal indicators under FAO custodianship
- SDG Indicator 5.a.1 - Equal tenure rights for women on agricultural land
- SDG Indicator 5.a.2 - Ensuring women’s legal rights to land ownership and/or control
Additional courses will be published during the coming months. At this stage, the products are in English, and will also be available in other UN languages in the near future.
