How to use CEDAW as an advocacy tool
CEDAW is the only human rights treaty that deals specifically with rural women, highlighting the need for their participation and access to basic social services - and is therefore a powerful tool to advocate for rural women.
ILC has produced this infonote on the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) to inform NGOs which options exist for them to engage in the CEDAW process. There is also a separate document with Questions and Answers on specific aspects of participating in the review process, including practical information on accreditation. Both are available in English, Spanish and French.
