Tanzania: multiple stakeholders debate land governance challenges

Tanzania is currently reviewing its national land policy. To better enrich the process, the Tanzania Natural Resource Forum (TNRF) is encouraging inclusive participation of multiple stakeholders via public debates and discussions at all levels.

Reports on land grabbing in recent years have largely followed big foreign investors on large-scale acquisition, leaving unreported small-scale land grabs. Discussions articulated during the ILC Africa regional assembly in Yaoundé-Cameroon shed light on small-scale land grabbing.

On Wednesday and Thursday, 13 and 14 September, ILC Africa regional assembly delegates discussed lessons from 2016/17 activities, voted new steering committee members and adopted decisions on 2017/18 strategy and reports of the 2016 regional assembly and the 2017 regional implementation.
