Indigenous People and process for the recognition of their land rights on Ancestral domains

Learning objectives:

  1. To understand indigenous perspectives on land issues

  2. To learn from the experience of the Indigenous People, Yucacaré mojeño in the process and their achievements in the implementation of the national law on land titling regarding the Communitarian Land of Origin (Tierra Comunitaria de Origen).

  3. To share experiences on ways to achieve synergy from the processes of resource management, conflict resolution, economic and social development.

Participants: Leaders from the Yucacaré mojeño indigenous group, CEDETI director and responsible of programme; Representatives of the National Direction for Forestry Development from the Ministry of Sustainable development and Coalition members and partners.

Location: Restaurant La Sierra, Country house, 26 km from Santa Cruz (30 minutes from the Hotel Cortez)

Time departure from Hotel Cortez: 8,30 a.m. and expected return 15,00 p.m.

Maximum number of participants : 30-35

Building awarness on land rights thorugh radio programmes

Learning objectives:

  1. To understand the use of communication media for development and empowerment

  2. To learn from the experiences of the settled people and their fight for the recognition of land titles

  3. To share strategies for improving life conditions after land acquisition

Participants: Major for the municipality of Cuatro Cañadas , settled people (colonizadores) and other farmers; departmental director of the National Institute of Agrarian Reform and Coalition members and partners.

Location: Las Cuatro Cañadas, community 120 km from Santa Cruz (2 hours from the Hotel Cortez)

Time departure from Hotel Cortez: 7,00 a.m. and provisional return 3,00 p.m.
