Building Workshop, Lome, Togo, 20-22 October 2003, on "Land Issues and Poverty Alleviation - Bringing the Challenge to Agenda for the West African Civil Society".
In support to strengthening and building partnership with LandNet West Africa, the International Land Coalition co-sponsor ed , with the Permanent Inter-State Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS), the Workshop in Lome, Togo, 20-22 October 2003, on the theme of "Land Issues and Poverty Alleviation - Bringing the Challenge to Agenda for the West African Civil Society."

The presentations and outcome of the discussions from the Workshop will form as a basis for LandNet West Africa's strategy and contribution to the forthcoming CILSS (Foncier Rural de Développement Durable au Sahel et en Afrique de l'Ouest) Praia +9 meeting on Rural Land Tenure and Sustainable Development in West Africa, Bamako,17-22 November 2003, of which the International Land Coalition will also be involved in the preparatory processes leading to and in the meeting itself.

LandNet West Africa has identified the Coalition as a strategic partner and both institutions (LandNet West Africa and the Coalition) will aim to agree to work on a common theme that will contribute to the exchange of knowledge and experiences of Coalition partners.

In bringing the Coalition partner (Uganda Land Alliance, the new secretariat for LandNet East Africa) to the Workshop it is expected that both networks can draw lessons from East Africa and to encourage future exchange to help strengthen both networks.
