FAO E-Consultation on the Zero Draft of the Voluntary Guidelines now open
The Zero Draft of the Voluntary Guidelines on Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land and Other Natural Resources has been presented in Rome a few days ago and is currently open for comments through an e-consultation hosted by FAO (from 18th April to 16th May).
Once adopted, the Voluntary Guidelines are likely to be a point of reference for much of the work of ILC and many other organisations and networks working on land tenure. The ILC Secretariat is currently facilitating a coordinated input by ILC members and partners to the preparation of the first draft.
The focus of ILC’s contribution will be on the relevance of the Voluntary Guidelines to ILC’s mission to promote secure and equitable access to and control over land for poor women and men. It is expected that ILC members and partners’ submissions will strengthen the extent to which pro-poor land governance and its benchmarks are addressed in the Voluntary Guidelines.
We invite you to take some time to read the draft of the Voluntary Guidelines (which you can find below) and respond to the attached questionnaire, as individuals and/or as organisations. The ILC Secretariat will submit to FAO any feedback received, together with a Synthesis Report. Alternatively, or in addition, you can submit your comments directly to FAO on http://www.fao.org/nr/tenure/voluntary-guidelines/e-consultation/en/.
Please send your responses to email@example.com by 5th May 2011. We look forward to hearing from you.
