Commercial Pressures on Land Portal

The Commercial Pressures on Land portal is set up to meet the increasing demand for reliable and substantiated information on commercial pressures on land, and encourage a wider and informed debate on Commercial Pressures on Land and responses to it. It has developed from the ILC Commercial pressures on Land Blog, set up in 2008. The new Commercial Pressures on Land portal consists of the following sections:

• a biweekly opinion piece;
• a matrix of global land deals with spatial representation (see dedicated section for further details)
• an annotated bibliography of research-based publications;
• a list of press articles;
• a calendar of relevant events;
• profiles of major initiatives to address Commercial Pressures on Land.

It is updated on a daily basis, provides entries in five languages (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and German) and covers information at a global scale on six profit drivers that are causing steep increases in demand for land: Agrofuels, Carbon trade, Food, Mining, Timber, Tourism and conservation.
