AAP is a non-profit association of Congolese law, which is registered with the Ministry of Justice
Mission:
To strengthen local capacity for peace, access to land, protection of rights of internally displaced persons and children, and the fight against poverty in rural areas; to promote environmental law as a tool for the protection of public health and collective heritage while promoting dialogue between stakeholders from different disciplines; and to promote public participation in decision-making processes with regard to access to natural resources in the Democratic Republic of Congo
Vision:
To build a united rural world where the poorest rural households share their way of life with the most affluent in the respect of basic principles and human rights and good governance, centred on access to land and land management.
Objectives:
Strengthen local capacity in analysis and treatment of internal displacement and the search for lasting peace;
Help resolve land disputes through advocacy for the poor and vulnerable people to access and manage land
Promoting environmental law as tools for protecting public health and heritage
Activities/Main areas of work:
AAP has focussed its work on the following seven key areas of work over the last few years:
− Monitoring the rights of IDP (internally Displaced Peoples) in the territories of Walikale and Masisi
− Monitoring children rights in Wakilale in encouraging children to go to school and stop children exploitation and improve their nutrition and welfare.
− Addressing land and environmental issues, so to facilitate certain researchers and international organizations to have access to information on access to land and natural resource management.
− Training, information and supervision of trainees on access to rural land and land administration in Democratic Republic of Congo.
− Participating in meetings and workshops on land issues
− Capacity-building of AAP officers
Producing research material on topics that relate to the above mentioned areas of work.
