Initially born as one of the first programmes of the Centro al Servicio de Acción Popular in 1976, Accion Campesina becomes legally independent in 1992. Today, Accion Campesina principally works with local communities in the region of Barlovento del Edo -Miranda. It also provides legal advise and capacity building support as per the request of institutions working in other regions of the country.
  • Mission:
    We are a social actor promoting Sustainable Agriculture in partnership with other actors. We believe in participation of rural people and of their organizations as to promote the country rural development.
  • Vision:
    Sustain successful experiences of Sustainable Agriculture that both increase revenues and improve living conditions of rural people. Support rural organizations with services of the highest possible quality.
  • Objectives:
    • In our short to medium term strategies we aim at supporting Local Development Plans, in partnership with other institutions –both private and public- and in specific geographical areas.
    • We also maintain a capacity building thrust for peasant/communities’ leaders as well as for those professionals that are specialized in rural development issues with the aim to both provide advice and share successful experiences/good practices of sustainable agriculture and local development.

  • Activities/Main areas of work:
    • Small projects in Miranda: Acción Campesina promotes sustainable rural development processes focusing in the areas of the state of Miranda by strengthening the capacities of local groups, capitalizing on their skills and potential. Among the various actions, some relevant projects focus on: Sustainable Agriculture projects based on local resources and existing intermediate technologies; small agrobusinesses; organizational strengthening and local development initiatives.

      Capacity building: Acción Campesina –with more than 30 years of experience- works towards building the capacities of various rural actors, and particularly of small farmers/producers.

      Consultancies: Acción Campesina offers consultancies to support public and private institutions in the design and/or implementation of development projects in rural areas, including through diagnoses, design of projects, definition of strategies to work with local groups, design and implementation of local development plans, etc.
