La Coalition Paysanne de Madagascar (CPM) is a platform of farmers’ organizations that group together some 300 grass-roots associations/organizations form different part of the country that promote knowledge sharing between farmers and other stakeholders in rural development.
Mission:
CPM’s mission is to raise awareness among peasants to get socially and economically organized to promote agriculture ,livestock, fisheries and handicrafts. CPM acts as a spokesman of the peasants and defends their interests in social dialogue. Overall, the CPM aims to be "a real hub of proposals, an effective and a dynamic agent of development."
Objectives:
1. Supporting organizations of CPM members in the mobilization of land titling and members of their families and rural communities where they operate.
2. Promote the cooperative movement in rural areas
3. Strengthening capacities for lobbying / advocacy of peasant leaders at regional and national level
4. Building alliances between organizations and other civil society organizations at the interregional level (province) on the concept of food sovereignty

CPM works on:
Food security/food sovereignty: the CPM is opposed to any process that can destroy the values of social solidarity and economic support in rural societies. The CPM emphasized that farmers need to strengthen their self-capacity to develop in their own societies and in their own professions to support the country’s food security.
Advocacy campaigns: the CPM campaigns for economic growth to foster sustainable development and professionalism of family farms. For the CPM, farmers’ profession belongs to the peasants and agriculture is not a mere commodity, but more importantly, part of Malagasy culture.
