JKPP was borne in 1996 in Bogor, West Java, out of a national expert meeting on participatory mapping that followed the one held in the Philippines the year before. JKPP, counting with 68 members between individuals and organizations, has developed over time as a national network in Indonesia with strong experience in participatory mapping, spatial conflict advocacy and communities’land rights.
Mission:
Accelerating enforcement of people’ sovereignty on spatial dynamics, through the development of participatory mapping learning groups. JKPP’s philosophy in promoting participatory mapping is to put the community as the key organizer of the mapping implementation, starting from the planning until the map is used. Vision: enforce people’ sovereignty on their space and on spatial dynamics.
Objectives:
Achieve a policy change of territorial control and management in the national and regional levels, so that a real opportunity can be given to communities to be involved in decision making about their own areas.

Community mapping service nodes are strengthened as well as participatory spatial planning through the strengthening of JKPP’s member capacity and through the consolidation of JKPP in every region of the country.
