Started in 1945, the Secours Populaire Français (SPF) is a non profit association which has been declared Main National Cause and is entitled to receive gifts and bequests. “We gather people from all conditions and origins, which are deemed to make solidarity something real”.
Mission:
In France, the Secours Populaire is mostly dedicated to exclusion problems related to children and poor families. In the rest of the world, the SPF works with local partners on development and education projects, including in emergency scenarios.
Objectives:
To provide relief support to populations affected by insecurity, poverty,disasters and conflict, to access populations without restriction,providing primary health care, rehabilitation and support long-term development projects
Le Secours Populaire implements sustainable development programs in rural areas(food security, water and sanitation programs, education,health)
Advocate gender equity, promoting women rights and helping girls to integrate a social and professional life.
Activities/Main areas of work:
Food Security
Wars,hunger,malnutrition, the problem is the same in France and in the world-to respond and provide solution to the problem of food insecurity.
Dignity and Human rights
Ensures the basic human rights of vulnerable persons and restore their dignity
Access to education
improve access to education so that children and adults can learn, grow and participate in shaping the society in which they live.
Right to health
Each person receive primary health care. However this right is unfortunately not achieved for people in difficulty and often excluded from health systems.
Holidays, culture, recreation and sports
The holidays, it is not a luxury! Enabling adults and children in need of escape from their daily promotes and facilitates their social integration.
Disasters
Relief workers intervenes during natural disasters or armed conflicts. Immediately, the association meets primary needs first which then lead to rehabilitation and development projects.
Citizenship and migration
Le Secours Populaire, one of the first associations of solidarity in France, helping families in difficulty, from all backgrounds, all ages and all beliefs.
