In March 2010, ILC jointly with ILC members Procasur and Uganda Land Alliance (ULA) carried out a Learning Route on “Action-Oriented Research and Policy Influence for Women’s Access to Land” in Uganda and Kenya.

Interim node for ILC Africa now hosted by RISD


The Rwanda Initiative for Sustainable Development (RISD), ILC member in Rwanda, is now hosting the ILC Africa node for an interim period of six months.

Declaration on the events in Jos


In January 2010, clashes occurred in Jos situated in the Plateau State in Nigeria and have caused the loss of many lives and valuable properties. A few months later, in March, savage attacks on innocent persons were launched in villages around Jos resulting in heavy casualties. These attacks were widely believed to be reprisal to previous killings. This series of tragedies has been officially estimated to have claimed half a thousand lives and destroyed valuable properties.

2010 march for women’s land rights


An 11-day march for women’s land rights in Nepal culminated at Tikapur, Kailali on 18 March 2010. The march began at points in Tulsipur, Dang, Kohalpur, Banke and Bhimdattanagar, Kanchanpur, and was timed to correspond with the celebration of International Women’s Day on 8 March 2010. A total of 337 women and 40 men participated in this historic event.

Courageous women march for their rights


On March 8th, 2010, women celebrated the one hundredth International Women’s Day. The Secretariat of the International Land Coalition honours women who, across time and countries, have struggled and are struggling for their rights to dignity, equality and participation. This year marks also the 15th anniversary of the Beijing Platform for Action, which is currently under review.
