FOR Africa to succeed in the fight against poverty, land should be distributed equitably – with a ceiling put on the amount of land one can own.
That’s the view of Duncan Green, Oxfam’s head of research and an accomplished author on poverty, trade and development, who was speaking at the Guild Theatre in East London during the Daily Dispatch’s public dialogue.
Green said for any country to alleviate poverty, it must ensure that economic growth is linked to equity so that the gap between the rich and the poor does not widen....
