In a spirit of collaboration and cooperation, the Dakar Declaration was issued by ILC members at the international conference "Land Governance for Inclusive Development, Justice and Sustainability: Time for Action".  Despite this, accomodating diverse views does not always mean that there is common agreeement.  Interesting debate was had on issues such as forest dwellers and bringing land rights to the forefront in the host country of Senegal! In the end, common ground was reached and the Declaration was adopted,  highlighting a a strong commitment to the promotion, protection and monitoring of land and natural resource rights in the post-2015 development agenda.  The Declaration is guided by the fundamental principle of leaving no one behind.
