  • Lobby and advocacy - pro-activity in policy formulation, implementation and review in agriculture and trade related issues in relevant forums.
  • Organizational strengthening of EAFF member organizations - Member organizations to have the
    capacity to fully understand and influence EAFF affairs
  • Organizational Strengthening of EAFF – EAFF leadership and secretariat to develop the necessary managerial capacities to fulfill the responsibilities given by its members.
  • Financial Sustainability - To progressively cover basic institutional running costs out of gradual increase of members’ contribution; income generating projects and other incomes.
  • Information and communication - Key stakeholders to have access to necessary, relevant and updated information in the appropriate language.
  • Working area: Networking - EAFF to be well known and appreciated by all relevant stakeholders’
  • Recruitment of youth, women, co-operatives and commodity associations – EAFF to diversify and
    mainstream membership.
  • Relations between EAFF and member organizations - EAFF and member organisations have close, satisfactory and mutually supporting relations
  • Lobbying and advocacy on issues of interests to farmers of the region
  • Empowerment of National Organization through; o Capacity Building o Research o Training o Lobbying for financing of their programmes
  • Contribution to policies that are regional in the formulation and implementation.
  • Enhance the capacity of National Farmers Organizations in Lobbying and advocacy through training.
  • Participate in the formulation and implementation of poverty eradication and food security programmes in the sub-region and the region.
  • Fully participate in the protection of the environment and biodiversity through implementation of environmentally friendly sustainable rural development.
  • Support and participate in Regional research that would enhance sustainable development in the rural areas.
  • Organize regional workshops and seminars on topical issues.
  • Assist in the formulation of tangible projects for the National Member Organizations and lobby for funding.
  • Represent farmers of the region at sub-regional, regional and international fora.
  • Enhance the role of women and youth in agriculture and rural development.
  • Promote peace, security and good neighbourness.
  • Represent farmers of the region in discussions on trade, research, production etc that are global and whose consequences may affect farmers of the region.
  • Participate in formulation of any social-economic project e.g. health, communication, education, disaster management, infrastructure, micro-enterprise, cultural etc. of benefit to farmers of the region.
