Description:

CCC is a network of organizations committed to facilitating the exchange of information among the development community and to providing a forum for co-ordination on issues of common concern. It was established in 1990 as a response to the relative weak state of civil-society organizations in Cambodia, a result of more than 25 years of civil conflict and political turmoil which has caused enormous socio-economic and politcal problems and tremendous challenges in these areas. Civil-Society organizations which were virtually non-existent prior to the 1990s, have only just begun to emerge as a result of of the democraticization process. CCC has over 100 non-governmental organizations in Cambodia committed to facilitating the exchange of information among the development community in Cambodia.

CCC Programmes and activities:

Linkages at national and international levels on land issues. In view of the very high levels and numerous problems relating to inequality of land ownership and land titling, CCC has made sure that civil-society groups are as promptly and fully involved as possible. This would guarantee that any ensuing policies or projects implemented reflect grassroots concerns. Through organizing various fora and workshops on land issues, CCC has also helped to increase understanding and participation of local groups and civil-society organizations in resolving land issues and impacting on policy making.

Ensuring grassroots inputs into land policies and projects: Taking advantage of the fact that interest in land issues in Cambodia by donor and state agencies is just emerging and is increasing, CCC has made sure that civil-society groups are as promptly and fully involved as possible. This would guarantee that any ensuing policies or projects implemented reflect grassroots concerns. Through organizing various fora and workshops on land issues, CCC has also helped to increase understanding and participation of local groups and civil-society organizations in resolving land issues and impacting on policy making.
