The Society for International Development (SID) is an international network of individuals and organizations, founded in 1957 to promote social justice and foster democratic participation.
Since it was founded in 1957, SID has played an important role facilitating honest conversation and dialogue among progressive civil society groups, connecting activists, academics, intellectuals and policymakers working at community, national and international levels in open and inclusive discussions on strategies for social justice and institutional change. SID seeks to become a key forum for this debate and this is the agenda SID is committed to foster.
Through its network and international programme activities SID aims to build and nurture new social relations, to provide opportunities for the exchange of ideas, knowledge and information between diverse actors, and to create opportunities for local innovations to be strengthened, scaled-up and replicated. Underpinning all of SID's activities and linking its global initiatives and regional programmes, are the values that characterize SID's programme portfolio: equity, respect for diversity and participation. The Society for International Development (SID) is an international non-governmental association of individuals and organizations, founded in 1957 to promote social justice and foster democratic participation. |
