ILC now included in OECD-DAC list of ODA-eligible organisations

Following a request from one of its long-term supporters, the Government of the Netherlands, ILC has been included on the list of organisations eligible for ODA (Official Development Assistance) of the OECD-DAC (Organisation of Economic Cooperation and Development – Development Assistance Committee), i.e. any contribution to ILC can now be counted as ODA by bilateral donors. ILC has been included in the list as a network. To see the list, please go here.

Invitation to online forum and call for expressions of interest to participate in TERRA MADRE event

 

In October 2010, International Land Coalition (ILC) and Action Aid (AA) are jointly organising an earth workshop at TERRA MADRE – a five-day meeting in Turin, Italy, bringing together more than 5000 representatives from a worldwide network of food communities, cooks, academics, youth and musicians from all over the world, united in a desire to promote sustainable local food production in harmony with the environment while respecting knowledge handed down over the generations.

ActionAid’s Report on Women’s Access to Land

actionThe Action Aid’s Report “Her Mile. Women’s Rights and Access to Land. The last stretch of road to eradicate hunger” has been released in English. The report offers a quick but effective overview of the women’s work in the rural world, with a core section on women’s access to and control over land. The report attempts a first analysis of the disaggregated impact on women of the 2008 global food price crisis and the following multilateral and bilateral response, and identifies women’s empowerment - especially on land rights - as the key strategy to tackle food insecurity.
