The UNDP's Dryland Centre is located in Nairobi, Kenya, and is one of the three UNDP Thematic Centres around the world.

Activities:

Expanding the body of policy knowledge on drylands issues through world-class policy support and analysis.
Empowering and building capacity in governments, UNDP country offices and communities to participate, learn and share policy knowledge.
Supporting programme developments. Promoting the IDDP to help countries realise the MDGd.
Supporting the implementation of UNCD. Promoting synergies amongst multilateral environmental conventions.
Playing a pivotal role in defining and establishing a drylands development knowledge and learning network.
Fostering innovative partnerships and networks of people and institutions throught the world.
Aiming to eliminate the current information deficit and expand the knowledge base int he drylands development.
Raising awareness and understand of dryland issues globally, regionally, nationally and locally.
Ensuring dryland issues are incorporated into the development agenda.
Mobilising resources to support drylands development.

UNDP’s Drylands Development Centre specializes in assisting countries to fight poverty and encourage development in the drier parts of the world.
