BACKGROUND
The Asian NGO Coalition for Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (ANGOC) commemorates its Silver Jubilee this 2004. Its genesis finds its way back to February 1979, in Bangkok, Thailand, following on the heels of a two-year series of village and national level consultations in 10 Asian countries leading to the World Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (WCARRD). Thanks to the inspiration and vision of the late Dr. Dioscoro Umali, ANGOC was established.

GOAL AND OBJECTIVES

The project aims to make an inventory of the knowledge generated by ILC and ANGOC partners who are field practitioners and advocates on the theme access to land and common property resources. Specifically, this project will produce a resource book, through a participatory process and interactive electronic means, that will serve as a reference of exemplary practices as well as an advocacy manual in mainstreaming/ scaling up civil-society initiatives on access to land and common property resources.

PROCESS AND METHODOLOGY

The process for development of the resource book will be participatory in nature and highly interactive through electronic means. The project will be implemented in three major phases:

Planning and preparatory phase

  • An advisory group will be constituted which will assist ANGOC in the design of overall framework of the resource book. The topic is identified and contributions to the resources book are solicited.

  • Contributors are invited to submit papers, (complemented with pro-active search for existing materials that could be repackaged by the core production team).

Production phase

  • Workshop for editors, artists and other production staff to produce the first draft to materials.

  • Review the repackaged materials by authors/contributors for comments/suggestions/revisions and sign off.

  • Review of full source book manuscript, based on the revised individual papers, by the Advisory group , through electronic means.

  • Production of a second version of the full source book manuscript (based on the review of the Advisory group through electronic means.

Printing and distribution phase.

  • Workshop for the Advisory Group to finalize the manuscript and approve printing.

  • Preparation of camera-ready copy and printing.

  • Distribution of source book copies ad monitoring readers' feedback and use.
