DGroup "Women's Rights and Access to Land"
  • This workspace, adminstrated jointly by ILC and IDRC, is intended to be used as a platform for discussion on IDRC's project on Women's Rights and Access to Land, and, more specifically, on ILC's recently started project on " Securing Women's Access to Land: Linking Research and Action" in Eastern and Souterhn Africa. The Dgroup aims to broaden member's understanding and learnings on gender and land tenure and will focus on the following four key themes:

    - The pluralistic norms governing land rights (formal/informal, legal/customary frameworks)
    - The social, gender, and institutional impediments to women gaining control over land resources in practice. This includes ownership, access and use rights
    - The linkages between land tenure and other productive resources from a gender perspective.
    - Practical opportunities where research may add-value to existing work and address gaps to improving women's access and rights to land and resources.

This space can be used to pose questions and participate in an interactive discussion with other members. Members can also post relevant resources to share with the group. Periodically, the administrators will post completed sub-regional scoping studies, final reports and updates on the project's progress.
