Monitoring Common property rights
ILC and CAPRi proposed 'Indicators of secure tenure to common property' as a workshop topic for the 2006 IASCP conference held in Bali, Indonesia. A summary of the findings of this workshop can be found here (pdf 48kb).

ILC has also commissioned a review of existing efforts to develop indicators of common property tenure security, conducted by Daniel Wilusz who worked closely with colleagues at CEPES in Peru. His discussion paper proposes possible key indicators: Quantitative Indicators for Common Property Tenure Security (pdf 275KB).

Land Watch Asia
A number of ILC's Asian members have initiated Land Watch Asia, a collaborative initiative to monitor land rights issues and policy in their respective countries as well as on a regional level.

Global Urban Observatory
The Global Urban Observatory (GUO), set up by UN-Habitat, uses an extensive system of indicators as part of their efforts to monitor urban trends. These include indicators on Urban land tenure security. Through the GUO, UN-Habitat also supports the Urban  Observatory Network of governmental and non-governmental organisations engaged in urban monitoring.

IFAD
IFAD uses indicators of land access and tenure security for fund allocation as well as monitoring and evaluation of its programmes. Their Guide for Project M&E contains detailed advice on using indicators in project evaluation.

LEAP
ILC member AFRA started the Legal Entity Assessment Project (LEAP) as part of a collaborative process to monitor Common Property Associations set up under the national Land Reform Programme. Now and independent NGO, LEAP uses indicators to asses the tenure security of common property institutions.
