Ms Kafui Kuwonu is the Director of Programmes at Women in Law and Development Africa, West Africa (WiLDAF-WA), a Pan African network bringing together 500 organisations and 1200 individuals with the ambition to promoting a culture for the exercise and respect of women's rights in Africa. In this position, she plays a leading role in building the capacity of women’s rights organisations and other networks working on women’s empowerment projects in the sub region. She heads WiLDAF's advocacy programmes for gender equality, respect and exercise of women rights. Since 2009, she has been spearing the implementation of programmes at WiLDAF that empowers women farmers. She contributed to the establishment of WiLDAF-Togo and was its first president from 1999 to 2003. Prior to WiLDAF, Ms Kuwonu held executive positions in public administration for twenty years before finally joining in full time NGO work in 2002. Founding member of GF2D (Group of Reflection and Action, Women, Democracy and Development in 1992, she was the General Secretary of this organisation from 2006 to 2010.
