Michelle joined ILC in 2018 as the women’s land rights focal point. Trained as social sustainability scientist, her work has centred on social analysis especially related to social inclusiveness and gender equity in the areas of post-conflict land and resource governance, climate change adaptation, and business investments in the agricultural sector. Prior to joining ILC, Michelle worked with the State of Colorado Water Resources Division as Deputy Water Commissioner and as a lecturer, student mentor and post-doctoral program coordinator at Utrecht University.
Michelle holds a Research Master in Sustainable Development-International Development and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies, Environmental Technology & Management. She is currently finalizing her doctorate, based on three years of mixed methods research in Cambodia, in International Development at Utrecht University.
