Resolución de conflictos de tierras en áreas naturales protegidas: el trabajo de ECOLEX

Durante 2018 y parte de 2019, la Corporación de Gestión y Derecho Ambiental (ECOLEX), en el marco de la Iniciativa de Aprendizaje para la protección de Tierras Comunitarias, promovida por la ILC en alianza con Namatí y el IIED, ha llevado a cabo diversas acciones para regularizar la tenencia de la tierra en las comunidades de Guananí y Piñán, ambas dentro de la Reserva Ecológica Cotacachi Cayapas (RECC), en Ecuador.

Iniciativa Tierras Comunales en Perú: IBC presenta experiencia piloto en las regiones de Áncash y Pasco

Las organizaciones que conforman la Plataforma para la Gobernanza Responsable de la Tierra (ENI Perú) se dieron cita el 21 de mayo para reflexionar en torno a la experiencia piloto de la Iniciativa Tierras Comunitarias, la cual fue promovida por la ILC, Namati, IIED y que contó con la participación de cinco organizaciones de África, Asia y América Latina que trabajan a favor de las tierras comunales en cada uno de sus países.

Results of the LANDex pilot experience in Colombia

Within the framework of the 10 commitments adopted by the ILC to achieve people-centered land governance, the LANDex, a global index that measures land governance, was developed. The methodology, aligned with these commitments, comprises 33 indicators that are grouped into 3 main types: legal framework, implementation and outcome effectiveness. The methodology has been piloted in several countries such as Nepal, Senegal and recently in Colombia. ILC and the Observatory of Ethnic and Peasant Territories of the Javeriana University of Bogotá presented the results for Colombia on 15 May 2019.

Escazú Agreement: States must fulfill their commitments to protect environmental defenders

The parallel event "Beyond Escazú: Protecting Environmental Defenders", held on 5 March in Geneva within the framework of the 40th Session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC), was configured as a key space to make visible the critical situation faced by defenders of land and the environment in Guatemala and the work promoted by the ILC to address the problem before important international actors.
