Coordinated land and water governance for global food security

Members of ILC, partners of the Global Water Partnership (GWP), and other land-water experts met in Pretoria, South Africa, met to discuss the missing links between land governance and water governance and the impacts of this uncoordinated governance on global food security.
ILC 2015 Assembly of Members Adopts Dakar Declaration

In a spirit of collaboration and cooperation, theDakar Declaration was issued by ILC members at the international conference "Land Governance for Inclusive Development, Justice and Sustainability: Time for Action". Despite this, accomodating diverse views does not always mean that there is common agreeement. Interesting debate was had on issues such as forest dwellers and bringing land rights to the forefront in the host country of Senegal! In the end, common ground was reached and the Declaration was adopted, highlighting a a strong commitment to the promotion, protection and monitoring of land and natural resource rights in the post-2015 development agenda. The Declaration is guided by the fundamental principle of leaving no one behind.
