ILC Vacancy Announcement: Europe, Middle East & North Africa Facilitator

Don't miss this exciting opportunity to be a part of ILC's fastest growing region, Europe, Middle East & North Africa (EMENA)! With 17 members organisations across three continents, we're looking for a dynamic faciliator to support EMENA evolve into a thriving regional platform!

ILC's Europe, Middle East and North Africa Region

Members of the International Land Coalition (ILC) in Europe, Middle East and North Africa are organized into the EMENA regional platform. EMENA has developed considerably since its inception and is currently composed by 17 member-organisations (out of which 10 are new members appointed by the ILC Assembly in 2018) covering Spain, Scotland, Italy, Albania, Moldova, Kosovo, Jordan, Palestine and Morocco.

While the ILC EMENA region covers 3 continents and its members span from diverse geographic, climatic social and political regions of the world, the group identified a larger purpose in being united under one ILC regional umbrella, mainly that of working together and benefiting from each other’s experience and expertise.

Following its establishment, the EMENA region started initiatives at the national and regional levels, reflecting its members’ identified priorities. By 2018 the EMENA platform has 2 active National Engagement Strategies (NES) in Albania and Moldova, and two under formulation in Kosovo and Jordan, as well as 3 Commitment Based Initiatives (CBI) on the Commons, Women’s Land Rights and Youth. Furthermore, the 2021 Global Land Forum – ILC’s triennial event - will be hosted by the EMENA region.

As the ILC decentralisation process deepens with regional platforms in Asia, Africa and Latin America becoming increasingly self-governed, and regional coordination units enjoying more autonomy, the ILC Secretariat is supporting the newly formed EMENA region to consolidate and evolve with a dedicated facilitator.

The consultant will be required to:

(a) Act as facilitator of the cohesion of the EMENA as a platform of members;

(b) support regional operations through NES and CBIs and their effective impact;

(c) position ILC EMENA in international processes of development, democratic evolution and peace building, and

(d) support the regional mobilisation of resources.
