Tenure Conference 2017

October is the month where Tenure Conference 2017 will be convened in Indonesia. Hosted by Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), Indonesian President's Executive Office (KSP), and the Civil Society Organisations, the conference will bring the theme of "Realising People's Rights: Forest and Land Tenure Reform in Indonesia". Discussions at the event will focus on how to secure community rights over land tenure and forest management in Indonesia. 

The conference is expected to bring 300-350 participants, not only from Indonesia, but other countries as well. Both public and participants will enrich themself on the journey of land reform and forest management from time to time in Indonesia, through discussions and academic scripts, from 50 resource persons, who will contribute their knowledge through 11 panels and 2 plennary sessions.
 
The panels will specifically discuss on the followings:

Panel 1: Acceleration of Social Forestry Targets Achievement

Panel 2: Acceleration of Agrarian reform to Overcome Agrarian Structural Inequality and the Economic Gap

Panel 3: Recognition of Indigenous Forests for the protection of Indigenous Peoples 

Panel 4: Tenure Rights Recognition in Addressing Climate Change

Panel 5: Rights of the People in Conservation Areas: Recognition and Role of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities

Panel 6: Protection of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities in Law Enforcement

Panel 7: Tenure Conflicts and Conflicts Resolution Options

Panel 8: Tenure regimes to Protect, Manage and Restore Peat Lands

Panel 9: Development of Community-Based Economies through a Variety of Forestry Innovations and Investment SMEs

Panel 10: Role of the Private Sector in Respecting Tenure and Human Rights

Panel 11: Variety of Tenure Issues related to Protection Forest and Forest Parks

The participants will include Central and Local Government Officials, CSOs, local community leaders, policy-maker institutions from Asian countries, research institutions, universities, and other institutions from the development sectors. ILC Asia Indonesian members will actively be involved in organizing and delivering both Panels and Plennary sessions.
