ILC member FES received Vodafone Foundation 'Mobile for Good' Award 2016
The ILC would like to extend a warm congratulations to member organisation Foundation for Ecological Security (FES) on receiving Vodafone Foundation "Mobile for Good" Award 2016.
The Mobile for Good Award is a flagship initiative of the Vodafone Foundation in India to support emerging mobile solutions with transformational impact on society.
The 2016 award goes to the Composite Land Assessment and Restoration Tool (CLART), developed by FES to bring publicly available information onto a mobile device and enable village-level functionaries to identify, plan and design soil and water conservation structures based on recharge potentiality, land use land cover and slope. The objective of the tool is to empower rural communities for better conservation action while strengthening rural livelihoods through improved leveraging of social security schemes such as Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act . The interface attempts to demystify science and enable contextualised planning at the local-level. For more information, please find attached a note on CLART and the critical challenges it addresses.
