Association of agroecological producers fosters community social organization

Randy Mikuna is an organization, established by farmers in the central highlands of Ecuador, with an alternative proposal for sustainability. This association of agroecological producers, composed of 32 families, promotes food sovereignty and community social organization. They transform and protect the territory through commercialization circuits and food baskets. However, the organization had to overcome many challenges in order to become an innovative experience, such as ensuring access to properties ceded or bought from small owners who had abandoned them.
