Participatory construction of 3D maps strengthens indigenous land management

Three dimensional maps (3D) were built in the three communities of Miguel Bikan, Waspam and Sahsa, in the Autonomous Region of the Caribbean North Coast. The aim was to contribute to the establishment of a community land monitoring & information system. This system will be for the use of local and regional authorities in order to strengthen indigenous land management. The communities gathered for participatory exercises of field data collection and mapping. Results will support conflict resolution, the reaffirmation of collective property and the preservation of natural resources.
