Nuffic Fellowships for Short Courses


The Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education (Nuffic) offers fellowships for training courses in The Netherlands. These fellowships seek to develop and strengthen the skills, instincts, and abilities of professionals to enable their organisations and communities to succeed in an ever-changing world. 

The Nuffic programme is initiated and (almost) fully funded by the budget for development cooperation at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. NFP and NICHE entered a new phase on 1 July 2017 and will continue as Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP).

You must fulfil academic admission at The Hague Academy before you can apply for a fellowship. Please read the details of each programme carefully to ensure you meet all eligibility and application requirements.

StuNed (Dutch-Indonesian scholarship programme)

The StuNed Scholarship programme aims to strengthen the human resources in Indonesian organisations and the bilateral relations between the Netherlands and Indonesia. The deadline for StuNed Scholarship applications was 6 January 2018. Learn more about this scholarship.

Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP)

Formerly known as the Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP), the Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) offers scholarships for participants living and working in one of the following 51 countries (pdf). This new 5-year programme aims to advance the capacity, knowledge and quality of both individuals and institutions of higher and vocational education.

A wide range of governmental, private and local NGO’s are eligible. Examples include educational institutions, planning agencies, national ministries, community-based organization and private enterprises. The key priorities for the programme are Food Security, Water, Security and Rule of Law, and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. Cross-cutting themes relevant to all activities of the programme include:  Private Sector Development, Climate, and Gender and Inclusive Development (with specific attention to marginalised and discriminated groups).

MENA Scholarship Programme (MSP)

MSP aims to contribute to the democratic transition in one of the 10 participating countries in the Middle East and North Africa region. It also seeks to build capacity within organisations by enabling employees (45 years and younger) to participate in short courses in various fields of study. (Applicants from Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon are eligible for both OKP and MSP Scholarships. You can only apply for one of the two. If you meet the eligibility criteria of MSP, then we recommend you apply for this Scholarship.)

Please note that both scholarships will cover the tuition fee, return flights from an international airport to Amsterdam, insurance, accommodation and a small Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA).

Current OKP and MSP Scholarships

Applications for the following OKP and MSP Scholarships will start on the 23rd January 2018. The deadline for applications is the 15th March 2018 at 24h00. More information can be found on the 2018 Course page.

  • Multi-level Water Governance (10 – 21 September 2018)
  • Local Economic Development (1 – 12 October 2018)
  • Conflict, Rule of Law and Local Security (29 October – 9 November 2018)
  • Gender Responsive Governance (19 – 30 November 2018)
  • Fiscal Decentralisation and Local Finance (11 – 22 February 2019) – Only for MSP Scholarships!
