Whose land, whose transition? | EMENA regional webinar

Towards a Just Green Transition in EMENA

Overview

Responses to the climate and environmental crises are urgent, but they also open up contested spaces around who has a voice over land governance and whose narratives are recognised.

Drawing on regional cases from ILC cross-regional analysis of the theme, this regional webinar will explore impacts on communities from non participatory nature protection initiatives, and local communities’ approaches to forest restoration under climate pressure.

Key Topics

  • Renewable energy investments and local land conflicts
  • Community participation in environmental decision-making
  • Climate-induced mobility and changing land dynamics
  • Gender-responsive approaches to climate and biodiversity governance
  • Building a just and inclusive green transition

Who Should Attend?

Policymakers, researchers, civil society organizations, land rights practitioners, community representatives, and others working at the intersection of climate, biodiversity, and social justice.
