Lead, Global Data and Land Monitoring
Eva joined the team in 2017 to support development of ILC's data portfolio and the construction of land governance monitoring tool LANDex. She currently serves as the global lead for land monitoring and data across the network, managing the collection, analysis and use of people's data for accountability. As part of her work at ILC, Eva is a co-chair of the the Alliance for Land, Indigenous and Environmental Defenders (ALLIED) and co-leads the ALLIED Data Working Group. For most of her career, Eva has worked at the intersection of data, research and journalism, always with a focus on land and the rural sector. Before joining ILC, Eva was a Fulbright researcher at the University of Brasília, working on the foreignization and financialization of the Cerrado. Prior to that, Eva was a journalism fellow at the University of California Berkeley and reported on science, the environment and rural development for Vice News, the Texas Tribune, and The Atlantic, among others. Eva holds two master's degrees in journalism and Latin American studies from the University of Texas in Austin. She currently lives in Italy with her husband and two children.
