Shaping the future of ILC
Land rights are foundational to achieving a world with resilient and sustainable food systems, reduced net emissions and increased environmental conservation and restoration, free of poverty and systemic gender discrimination. In short, securing land rights are essential to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
We need to look at the change from the eyes and vision of citizens and from those who will be leading communities, organizations and our world in 2030: from the youth.
The ILC Fellowship is a one-year programme for young activists and change-makers who are making the difference within peoples’ organizations in the ILC network and in the land rights space.
We have developed a dynamic programme for young people from the network to connect to other young people from all over the world and equip them with tools to leadership skills and bring about change to achieve land governance and, consequently, the SDGs. We put special emphasis on promoting women’s leadership.
fellows will:
● BE EQUIPPED with the basics on People and Planet Centred Land Governance and how it contributes to SDGs, the principles of collective leadership and a set of improved skills on leadership, gender justice, communications, advocacy to help them design fresh and effective solutions
● WALK THE TALK, by putting their skills and competencies into practice to design and implement tailored action plans, and co-organise ILC’s global event: the 2022 GLF Youth
● BE PART OF A GLOBAL COMMUNITY of support and peer learning with possibilities for future join work, including leading regional actions
● ACCESS DIVERSE RESOURCES: The fellowship offers a Collective Grant Fund of up to 100K USD, which fellows can access to implement their action plans (individual or collective), and to carry out personal/professional growth activities according to criteria defined by ILC with fellows. Fellows will also access a wide range of non-financial resources such as training, learning resources and international events, based on ILC’s experience in capacity development and the diversity of its members
what we expect:
● the next generation of change-makers is empowered and equipped with the tools to lead changes and promote collective leadership
● fellows are more aware of their role in the fulfilment of the SDGs by 2030 and their connection to People-centred land governance
● ILC members adopt inclusive and gender-just organisational practices with young women and men participating in decision-making and taking leadership roles
● the voices of young activists are brought into ILC governance and activities
● ILC youth ambassadors play an active role in ILC, including inthe 2022 Global Land Forum(GLF) and the first ever GLF Youth that will precede the event
