JOIN US BEHIND THE SCENES WITH JAMES AS HE WALKS US THROUGH THE POWERFUL CHANGE THAT CAN BE MADE THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS
What is your role in the platform? What does it entail?
Namu: I have been working as NES Mongolia facilitator since September 2020. My roles and responsibilities include coordinating and managing the communication between NES Mongolia members with ILC Asia and ILC global team, managing the planning and implementation of NES Mongolia activities and organizing steering committee meetings and ensuring the active participation of NES members and partners.
What is the bigger strengths of your MSP to achieve its objectives?
Namu: The strength of NES Mongolia is the integration of national level CSOs for the purpose of achieving ILC 10 commitments and improving land tenure. Members of our platforms work in a coordinated manner on the basis of their expertise and contributes to concretely advance strategy activities to pursue our common objectives.
What instead the areas that require further strengthening?
Namu: Most of NES Mongolia members currently have limited policy influencing capacity owing to their specific operational areas, organizational policies, skills and capacities that limit the outreach of the platform. Although all of them are working on land governance issues, without effective linkages between grassroots and national policies, the potential of scalability and replicability of their work is limited. Therefore, the platform in Mongolia has the crucial need to increase its membership and connect with other initiatives for establishing itself as a knowledge platform and policy influencing group
What are the learnings you would like to share with peers and other practitioners?
Namu: It is important to share information across the platform to keep members engaged in the activity. Communication has to consider the different needs of platform members, including building internal cooperation within the platform and working as a unified force to influence decision makers at national and local levels.
What would you like to learn from others?
Namu: Success stories of other NES platforms, especially in achieving their strategic objectives and in terms of resource and mobilization.
