Mission
The PUJ produces and disseminates scientific knowledge to find solutions to environmental and rural problems to achieve sustainable development based on a participatory and interdisciplinary perspective. Their scholars analyse social, productive and political processes and changes related to the linkages between society and the environment. At the same time, they also realize teaching activities in diverse academic programmes and support rural communities on their planning processes and institutional structure.
Objectives
The objectives include to analyze the productive, social and political transformations and processes inherent to rural and regional development processes in order to generate knowledge, methodologies and strategies for the different stakeholders to improve their living conditions, providing teaching services to academic programs of the university who require consulting activities related to research topics under the department and contributing to groups and rural and regional communities in the country, in their processes of organization and construction of integrated alternatives.
Constituencies
Rural indigenous and afro-colombian communities; local communities from Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia; educational institutions/groups.
