The International Land Coalition (ILC) celebrates the collective energy and mobilisation that brought social movements, grassroots organisations, and governments together at the second International Conference on Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (ICARRD+20).
At a time of converging global crises—climate change, inequality, biodiversity loss, and growing pressures on land and natural resources—the renewed global attention to agrarian reform, tenure security, and the rights of rural people is both timely and urgently needed. We thank the governments of Colombia and Brazil for their leadership as well as the technical support of FAO.
ILC reaffirms its longstanding commitment to land rights and people-centred land governance, recognising the self-determination of the people who live on and from the land, Indigenous Peoples, peasants, pastoralists, Afro-descendants , fisherfolk, women, youth, and local communities in all their diversity. We recognise the importance of acknowledging their distinct identities, rights and political struggles.
We will continue to advance people‑centred land governance and look forward to constructive engagement in the upcoming CFS discussions, as well as in preparations for the third ICARRD within the next three years.
In solidarity,
The International Land Coalition
