3 December, 2026 - Today, we’re proud to launch Mobility Matters - a global campaign to celebrate and defend the ways of the world’s pastoralists, marking the start of the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP) 2026!
This campaign brings together pastoralists - the 3.3 million people that are a part of the ILC network - governments to protect mobility, secure land rights and reshape the narrative on rangelands.
For too long, rangelands have not received the recognition they deserve - despite covering nearly half of the earth’s land surface and holding some of our most powerful climate solutions.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Over the next year, we’ll roll out:
- powerful stories from pastoralist communities across the ILC network
- national and global advocacy moments
- new evidence for policy and climate action
- opportunities to engage, collaborate, and amplify pastoralist voices
