ABOUT
In Africa, land is primarily under the labour of women and girls to feed families, but their contribution largely remains unaccounted for and under-resourced. Pastoralist women and farmers face challenges in securing collective land rights due to patriarchy, institutional barriers and colonial legacies, exacerbated by the commodification of natural resources and weak implementation of legal reforms.
This session will spotlight women farmers and pastoralists, amplifying their voices for land rights and investments in climate-resilient agriculture. It will also explore how financing models that support women's land rights can be designed to be more inclusive and effective in achieving both gender equality and climate goals.
