2022 Annual Report
It's time to pause and reflect on how far we've come. It's been a pivotal year for our network, as we jumped into our 2030 Strategy and were finally able to meet in person - after almost four years(!) - at the Dead Sea in Jordan for the Global Land Forum.
Reconnecting with familiar faces and welcoming new ones into the fold was a wonderful testament to the power of our network - 300+ strong, spanning across 83 countries! It was a reminder of when we come together, how much there is to share and learn from one another, and how important it is to reaffirm our common agenda in the face of so many challenges.
The Dead Sea Declaration is ILC’s commitment to stand behind the leadership of ‘people’s organisations’, in ensuring that land rights is a pathway to addressing the climate and environment crises.
For the first-ever ILC event in an Arab country, it was a watershed moment for establishing and strengthening partnerships in the region and to open up spaces for civil society to advocate for people-centred land governance.

But that's not all! This year was the first time that we organised our first ever Global Land Forum Youth.
The energy was palpable with 100 young people coming together from 35 countries - the culmination of our global leadership programme and regional movements from Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East and North Africa. Their declaration - an inspiration to the entire membership - included a demand for their seat at the ILC table. More to look forward to with ILC's governance reform! The momentum continues as their demands shaped their common agendas and participation around COP27, the World Food Forum and COP15.The GLFY has shown us clearly that we must invest in young people, not only for the future of our network but for future of the land rights movement.
They are showing us the way...

Above and beyond this historic moment, our network has been busy and we're seeing the results. We've selected a few stories from the last year to help inspire and motivate all of us going into the new year.
We thank you for your continuous efforts to make people-centred land governance real, in solidarity with the organisations of women, Indigenous peoples, smallholder farmers, pastoralists, and the young people in our membership.
Until then, we wish you a peaceful holiday season and look forward to reconnecting on the issues that matter most.
